Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston as well as John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of the singer Dionne Warwick. When she was a little girl, Houston started performing professionally in the church choir. Houston sang the backing vocals for Chaka Khosn's single from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mom. She went on to provide the backing vocals of Jermaine and Lou Rawls as well as her own mother. She also did a brief stint as a model appearing on the front cover of Seventeen magazine in the year 1981. The year 1985 saw Whitney Houston's first album was the best-selling debut album ever. The album All My Love was released in 1985 and became a number one single. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies before it increased to 25 million worldwide. It brought her first of her six Grammy Awards. The Whitney 1987 release, which included Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as popular songs, was a way to build on the success she had achieved. The 1992 film The Bodyguard sealed her spot in the top 20 most-sellers ever. While her movie performance and its soundtrack were not popular however, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You as well as the album accompanying it were top of the charts across the world for several months. When she welcomed her daughter Bobbi, Brown married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. In 1996 her daily drug usage was well documented.
